This opportunity sits within the Building Policy function of the Public Works division.

About the Role

As Principal Program Manager (AO7), you will play a key role in ensuring major projects and initiatives are aligned with strategic objectives, effectively governed and successfully delivered.

A central focus will be leading the implementation and management of a Federation Funding Agreement, including establishing an effective methodology for capturing, delivering and reporting outcomes. You will maintain a strong focus on quality, value for money and effective resource management.

You will also provide high-level strategic and professional advice on national building policy, legislation and standards, considering their impact on government, industry and the broader community.

- Leading implementation, management and reporting of the Federation Funding Agreement
- Coordinating resources, timelines and budgets to achieve agreed program outcomes
- Providing timely, high-level advice to senior leadership and key stakeholders
- Leading Cabinet, Executive Council, Parliamentary and legislative matters
- Preparing high-quality documentation including Cabinet submissions, drafting instructions, Executive Council minutes, Bill Books, Estimates briefing notes and Ministerial correspondence
- Advising on national building policy, legislation, standards and implementation of government policy objectives
- Managing research to support continuous improvement of Queensland building legislation and standards




- Contributing to a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.

About You

You will be an accomplished program, project or policy professional who can operate confidently within a complex government and stakeholder environment.

You will bring demonstrated experience successfully managing projects within defined timeframes and guidelines, complemented by the ability to provide high-level strategic and professional advice on policy and legislative matters.

Your background will demonstrate:

- Strong project and program management capability
- Experience providing strategic advice to senior and diverse stakeholders
- Capability in researching, developing and implementing legislation and policy aligned with government objectives
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly for complex executive and government documentation
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinking and sound judgement when navigating complex policy issues
- A commitment to high performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
