Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government agency to engage a Project Engineer - Asphalt for a contract opportunity based in Wollongong. This position is offered for a ASAP - 30/04/2027 contract period.

About the Position
The Project Engineer - Asphalt is responsible for managing and delivering asphalt road infrastructure and maintenance projects, ensuring works are completed within agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirements. The role supports project planning, design, procurement, contract administration and site delivery activities.

Duties

- Manage asphalt road infrastructure and maintenance projects through all delivery phases
- Coordinate contract works to achieve agreed time, cost, quality and scope outcomes
- Develop project briefs, cost estimates and oversee investigation and design activities
- Procure and manage service providers and contractors
- Prepare contract documentation and technical specifications for road works projects
- Monitor project delivery, contractor performance and compliance requirements
- Conduct site visits across active roadwork locations
- Engage with stakeholders to support project outcomes and project delivery
- Implement workplace health and safety and environmental management practices
- Coordinate asphalt maintenance activities across multiple project sites

Requirements/Skills

- Demonstrated experience delivering road infrastructure, asphalt rehabilitation and maintenance projects
- Experience managing project delivery, contractors and service providers




- Knowledge of contract management, project planning and procurement processes
- Experience preparing technical specifications and project documentation
- Experience working within live roadwork, construction and traffic management environments
- Understanding of workplace health and safety, environmental management and risk management requirements
- Civil Engineering Bachelor qualification
- Current Driver Licence required
- White Card mandatory
- WOF mandatory prior to commencement
- Right to work in Australia
- Cleared Police Check or willingness to complete one
- Two professional reference checks required
- Traffic Control ticket preferred or willingness to obtain one
- Asphalt industry experience highly desired
- Local Government or State Government experience highly desired
