RN - Mackay Base Hospital - Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

Mackay Base Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (Grade 5) to join its Coronary Care Unit on a 16-week contract from November 2026 through February 2027. This is a rotating shift role offering the opportunity to deliver high-level cardiac nursing care in a specialist environment. The successful candidate will work across 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts, with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight, and will be part of a dedicated team managing complex coronary patients.

- Specialist coronary care nursing in a busy acute hospital setting
- 16-week fixed-term contract with versatile shift patterns (8, 10, and 12-hour rotations)
- Work alongside experienced cardiac specialists in a supportive clinical environment

Preferred Requirements

- Mandatory CCU experience; demonstrated competence in coronary care nursing




- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (must be included with your application)
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to recognise acute cardiac changes
- Experience with cardiac monitoring equipment and interpretation of ECG findings
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced clinical setting

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Post-graduate qualification or certification in cardiac or critical care nursing
- Additional training in acute coronary syndrome management or interventional cardiology support
