About the role

This is a hands-on contract role focused on indirect tax across Kokoda's development portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll take ownership of indirect tax compliance and advice across the group, working closely with the finance team and partnering with Development, Sales and Legal on transactions as they arise. The contract runs for two months, starting this week or Monday 19 October at the latest.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, review and lodge BAS and indirect tax returns across the group
- Review the indirect tax treatment of property transactions, including the margin scheme and going concern supplies
- Manage stamp duty and land tax obligations across the development portfolio
- Review historical indirect tax positions and identify risks or opportunities
- Provide practical advice on the indirect tax implications of acquisitions, sales and JV arrangements
- Support month-end reconciliations relating to indirect tax accounts
- Document processes and recommendations to support the team after the contract ends

About you





- CPA qualified
- Minimum 6 years' accounting experience, with a strong specialty in indirect taxes
- Deep working knowledge of indirect taxes, including stamp duty and land tax, ideally within property development, construction or project-based environments
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong attention to detail and clear stakeholder communication skills
- Experience with Xero or similar accounting software
- Exceptionally strong skills in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Available to start immediately
