An opportunity to build your own acoustics business, without having to start from scratch.
I've got a really compelling opportunity for an experienced Acoustics Consultant or Engineer in Melbourne.
The business is an established specialist engineering consultancy with an absolutely brilliant reputation. Great clients, a genuinely excellent team and a Director who is not only one of the best engineers in town, but also one of the nicest people you'll meet.
They've built a very successful business doing what they do best, and they're now looking to broaden their offering by introducing acoustics.
And that's where you come in.
The opportunity
They're looking for someone to come in and establish an acoustics offering within the existing engineering consultancy.
You'd have the freedom to shape the service, build your own client relationships and eventually grow a team around you.
The really attractive part is that you're not starting from zero.
They've already got an established client base, a fantastic reputation and plenty of repeat business. Clients trust them, enjoy working with them and regularly come back with more work.
They're confident there's an opportunity to offer acoustics to those same clients, and they want someone who can take ownership of making that happen.
And they've done this before. They recently introduced another specialist discipline, brought in the right person to lead it, and she's absolutely flying. So this isn't just an idea they hope will work. They've already proven the model works.
Who they're looking for
This could suit an existing Acoustics Leader who's keen to do their own thing, or a Senior / Associate Acoustics Consultant who's ready to take that next step.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A solid background in building acoustics within an engineering consultancy.
- The technical ability to lead projects and advise clients independently.
- Good relationships across the building and construction industry.
- Experience across architectural acoustics, sound insulation, building services noise and vibration.
- A genuinely good approach to working with people.
You don't need to arrive with a huge portfolio of clients or be a big business development person. There is already plenty of opportunity within the business. What's more key is that you're technically good, commercially aware and someone clients enjoy dealing with. The bigger picture The long-term plan is for you to become an owner of the acoustics business.
The intention is to establish acoustics as its own division, with a genuine pathway to equity ownership for the person who builds and leads it.
You'll have the independence to make it your own, but with the support, infrastructure, reputation and existing clients of a very successful consultancy behind you.
And I really can't say enough good things about the people involved. It's a genuinely supportive environment, led by a Director who wants the people around him to succeed.
You don't need to have ambitions of starting your own consultancy to be interested in this. You might simply be a really good Acoustic Engineer with the right attitude, a bit of ambition and the confidence to back yourself if given the opportunity.
And that's what I really like about this role. You don't need to spend the next ten years working your way through layers of management waiting for someone to give you a chance. Here's a business that's ready to give the right person that opportunity now.
Get in touch for a confidential chat. Happy to tell you more about the business, the people and what they're looking to build - Marc Hammond, 0402 413 428.
