About the Role
We are hiring a Blockchain / Tech Team Lead to own the technical direction and engineering execution of our core blockchain infrastructure. This is a player-coach role: you will write and review production code, design protocol architecture, and lead a distributed team of senior engineers building high-performance, secure, and scalable Web3 systems.
You will be the final technical authority on smart contract architecture, node infrastructure, consensus integration, and on-chain data pipelines. If you have shipped production blockchain systems and can lead engineers at the deepest technical level — this role is built for you.
What You Will Actually Do (Technical Scope)
Architecture & Protocol Design
Design and own the end-to-end architecture of blockchain-based systems: smart contracts, off-chain services, indexers, and RPC infrastructure.
Define upgradeability, proxy patterns, and storage layout for production smart contracts (UUPS, Transparent Proxy, Diamond Standard).
Architect cross-chain and multi-chain solutions: bridges, message passing, rollup integration (Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync, Base).
Make consensus-level decisions: validator setup, staking mechanics, finality, and reorg handling.
Smart Contract Engineering
Write, review, and audit Solidity / Rust smart contracts deployed to EVM and non-EVM chains.
Enforce security standards: reentrancy protection, access control, oracle manipulation resistance, MEV mitigation.
Lead integration with audit firms and drive remediation of findings.
Own gas optimization and contract efficiency at the opcode level.
Backend & Infrastructure
Build and scale indexing and data layers: The Graph, Ponder, custom indexers, subgraphs, and on-chain analytics pipelines.
Design high-throughput backend services in Node.js, Go, or Rust that interact with nodes, mempools, and RPC providers.
Manage node infrastructure: full nodes, archive nodes, validators, RPC endpoints (self-hosted and managed).
Implement observability and monitoring: Tenderly, OpenZeppelin Defender, Grafana, Prometheus,
on-chain alerting.
Team Leadership (Player-Coach)
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5–15 senior blockchain and backend engineers.
Set technical direction, run architecture reviews, and make final calls on critical trade-offs.
Own sprint planning, code review culture, and engineering standards.
Hire top talent: define roles, run technical interviews, and build the team.
Collaborate with product, security, and compliance to align engineering with business goals.
Security & Reliability
Drive threat modeling for all on-chain and off-chain components.
Own incident response for smart contract and infrastructure failures.
Establish CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, fuzzing, and formal verification where applicable.
Ensure 99.99% uptime for critical on-chain services.
What We Expect From You
6–10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in blockchain/Web3.
Production experience deploying and maintaining smart contracts on mainnet (EVM required; Rust/Solana/Cosmos a strong plus).
Deep knowledge of: EVM internals, gas mechanics, mempool dynamics, consensus algorithms, and cryptographic primitives.
Strong backend skills in at least two of: Go, Rust, Node.js/TypeScript, Python.
Proven leadership: you have managed engineers, run code reviews, and owned technical roadmaps.
Security-first mindset: you think like an attacker and design like a defender.
Fluent English for async communication across time zones.
Nice to Have
Experience with zero-knowledge proofs (zk-SNARKs, zk-STARKs, Circom, Noir).
Contributions to open-source blockchain protocols.
Experience with MEV, liquid staking,
or restaking infrastructure.
Familiarity with formal verification tools (Certora, Halmos, K Framework).
Why This Role Pays $300k–$500k
This is a top-tier technical leadership position with direct ownership of systems that hold real user funds and process real value. The compensation reflects:
Extreme scarcity: Few engineers combine deep blockchain expertise with proven team leadership.
Direct financial exposure: Your architecture decisions protect millions in on-chain assets — a single bug can be catastrophic.
Full technical ownership: You are the final decision-maker on protocol design, security, and infrastructure.
Market competition: Top Web3 companies globally compete for this exact profile, driving compensation to the top of the market.
Revenue impact: Your systems directly enable trading volume, TVL growth, and product scalability.
What We Offer
$300,000 – $500,000 annual salary, based on depth of experience and proven track record.
Token / equity package with long-term vesting.
Remote-first with async culture and flexible hours.
Hardware and tooling budget: your ideal dev setup, paid.
Conference and certification budget (Devcon, ETHGlobal, security summits).
Direct line to CTO and founders — no layers, fast decisions.
Relocation support if you prefer hybrid in a tech hub.
How to Apply
Send your resume plus a short technical note covering:
One blockchain system you architected and shipped — stack, scale, and outcome.
A critical security or performance problem you solved — how you diagnosed and fixed it.
How you lead engineers — your philosophy on code review, ownership, and mentoring.
Links to GitHub, deployed contracts, or audit reports are strongly encouraged.
Pay: $320,000.00 – $500,000.00 per year
