About Us
VEND brings together a café, independent retailers and creative workshops in a welcoming community space. We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Café Supervisor to lead our café team and keep daily service running smoothly.
About the Role
You’ll work alongside the team on the floor, deliver excellent customer service and take ownership of day-to-day café operations. This role suits someone who enjoys leading by example, stays calm during busy periods and notices what needs to be done without waiting to be asked.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Lead service on the floor, allocate tasks and support the team during busy periods.
- Prepare quality coffee and beverages, maintaining consistent standards.
- Train and support staff in customer service, café procedures and cleanliness.
- Assist with staff rosters and shift coverage in line with business needs.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure accurate orders and timely service.
- Handle customer enquiries, bookings and complaints professionally.
- Monitor stock, place orders and minimise waste.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
- Oversee POS transactions, cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Coordinate with the retail and workshop teams on bookings and events.
- Keep management informed of staffing, maintenance and operational issues.
About You
- Previous experience as a café supervisor, team leader or in a similar hospitality role.
- Robust barista skills and confidence working in a busy café.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to lead a team fairly and confidently.
- A reliable, organised and proactive approach to work.
- A strong focus on customer experience and attention to detail.
- Availability for early starts and weekend shifts.
- Valid Australian working rights.
