About the role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. You will plan and organise food preparation and cooking, contribute to menu development, and maintain consistent standards of food quality, presentation and kitchen hygiene.

The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, an interest in Mexican cuisine and the ability to coordinate kitchen activities efficiently in a busy restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present Mexican dishes, maintaining consistent flavour, portion sizes and presentation.
- Plan and develop menus and specials in consultation with management, considering customer preferences, seasonal ingredients and dietary requirements.
- Estimate ingredient quantities, food costs and kitchen labour requirements to support efficient service and cost control.
- Order food and kitchen supplies, check deliveries and monitor stock levels, rotation and wastage.
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking and service.
- Coordinate daily food preparation and kitchen workflow to ensure meals are delivered promptly.
- Discuss food preparation and service requirements with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff.




- Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide kitchen team members in recipes, preparation methods and presentation standards.
- Assist with training and supervising cooks and other kitchen staff.
- Implement and monitor food safety and hygiene procedures, including safe storage, temperature control, cleaning and allergen management.
- Ensure food is appropriately cooled, stored, frozen or preserved to maintain quality and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organised and protected kitchen.

Qualifications, skills and experience
- At least one year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Relevant commercial cookery or culinary qualifications; applicants with substantial relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications will also be considered.
- Experience with Mexican cuisine is highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of cooking techniques, food presentation and quality control.
- Ability to contribute to menu planning, food costing, ordering and stock management.
- Good understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene and allergen management.
- Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain consistent standards during busy service periods.
- Availability to work a roster that includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.
