About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced construction tradesperson, builder, carpenter, site supervisor or multi-skilled tradesperson who enjoys sharing your knowledge?

Salford College is looking for a practical, enthusiastic and patient individual to deliver introductory construction training at our Adelaide campus.

Our programs include the Introduction to Construction Skill Set and Certificate II in Construction Pathways, helping students develop fundamental construction skills before entering the industry or pursuing further trade qualifications.

You don't necessarily need to be an experienced classroom teacher. We are particularly interested in people who have worked in the construction industry, enjoy mentoring others and can demonstrate practical skills across different areas of building and construction.

What You'll Be Doing

- Teaching students basic building and construction skills through hands-on activities.
- Demonstrating the safe use of hand tools, power tools and construction equipment.
- Supervising practical projects involving timber framing, measuring, cutting, assembling and fixing materials.
- Teaching construction site safety, workplace practices and basic plan reading.
- Guiding and mentoring students who may have little or no previous construction experience.
- Planning training activities, conducting assessments and maintaining student records.




- Working collaboratively with the Salford College training team.

The ideal person will have:

- Strong practical experience in building and construction.
- Broad familiarity with construction tools, equipment, materials and safe work practices.
- The ability to explain practical tasks clearly and patiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, reliable and professional approach.
- An interest in helping students develop confidence and practical skills.

Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant construction trade qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or an accepted equivalent) is highly regarded.
- Current construction industry experience and knowledge.
- Appropriate clearances and licences as required for the role.

Applicants who have strong industry experience but do not currently hold a training qualification are encouraged to express their interest. Any appointment to deliver or assess nationally recognised training will be subject to applicable trainer and assessor requirements. Why Join Salford College?
