**Design transport solutions that make a practical difference.

Are you an experienced civil designer ready to apply your technical expertise to diverse transport infrastructure projects? Join Transport and Main Roads as a PO3 Designer (Civil) and help plan and deliver infrastructure that supports communities across Central Queensland.

Based in Rockhampton, you will work within the Technical Services team as part of a skilled, multidisciplinary environment. You will contribute to planning and design projects across their strategic planning, concept, development and implementation phases, while providing technical advice and design support to teams involved in infrastructure delivery.

The opportunity

this role combines hands-on civil design work with technical problem-solving, project coordination and stakeholder engagement. You will develop and review transport infrastructure designs, investigate practical design options and help ensure projects meet relevant standards, timeframes, budgets, quality requirements and stakeholder expectations.

You will use your professional judgement to select appropriate design approaches and provide advice across corridor planning, program development, project delivery and finalisation. You will also support the local design group by sharing your knowledge of 12d Model and AutoCAD.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Develop and quantify transport infrastructure design models across the project lifecycle.

Provide technical advice on transport infrastructure planning and design.

Investigate, analyse and develop design options that meet project objectives.

Manage and deliver key components of planning and design work.

Ensure designs comply with relevant policies, standards, guidelines and legislation.

Review drawings and documentation prepared by external design consultants.

Support and guide colleagues in using 12d Model and AutoCAD.

Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to address project needs and issues.

What you will bring

You will hold a minimum three-year Sydney Accord accredited engineering degree, such as a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil), or recognised equivalent, together with a current Class C driver licence.

Proficiency in 12d Model and AutoCAD, relevant experience in transport infrastructure planning and design and a general construction induction card are desirable. You will also bring sound professional judgement, accountability, collaborative stakeholder skills and the ability to apply project management, governance and risk management principles to infrastructure projects.

Why join us?

You will work on varied projects that contribute directly to Queensland's transport infrastructure program. The role provides opportunities to broaden your technical capability, contribute to multidisciplinary project delivery and continue developing professionally within an inclusive workplace that supports career growth and work-life balance.

This is a permanent, flexible full-time position based in Rockhampton. If you are ready to apply your civil design expertise to meaningful infrastructure work, we encourage you to apply.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
