Role Description

As a Digital Marketing Summer Intern you will have the prospect to lead the growth of Protocol's Instagram to transform it into a leading channel for young people engaging with tech policy. This position is designed for someone who wishes to grow their marketing portfolio while supporting a national not-for-profit.

This Internship is a remote, 12 week volunteer placement from November 2026 to February 2027, with flexible working hours (approximately 8 hours a week).

Day-to-day tasks include drafting and filming social media posts, scheduling content, and monitoring engagement across platforms. Interns collaborate with the Brand and Content Team and Policy Research Fellows to promote our work and help grow Protocol’s online community among students, young professionals, and technology policy stakeholders.

About Protocol

Protocol is an Australian youth-led technology policy lab launched in January 2026. Our mission is to empower young people to shape the national conversation on technology policy and advocate for a world where technology serves the public good. The organisation focuses on critical issues at the intersection of technology and society, including democracy and technology, digital harms faced by young people online, and AI accessibility and inequalities.

An ideal volunteer will be someone who is:





- Passionate about social media marketing with the skills to plan, create, and optimise content across key platforms.
- Interested in supporting a growing youth-led, not-for-profit.
- Proactive, organised, with great attention to detail, and the ability to follow brand guidelines and content approval processes.
- A current university study or recent graduation in fields such as communications, marketing, public policy, law, technology, or related disciplines (desirable but not necessary).
- Experienced with content creation tools, basic design or video editing (desirable but not necessary).

This is an unpaid position.

As a Summer Intern, you will get:

- Ownership of a live platform, with a portfolio of work and measurable results to show for it
- Hands-on experience in strategy, content creation and community management
- A reference and a letter of recommendation on successful completion
