Prime Rehab is seeking a reliable, friendly and responsible Disability Support Worker to provide ongoing support to a man living with a physical disability in Heidelberg West, VIC.

The primary focus of this role is assisting the participant with his morning routine, particularly transferring him safely from his bed into his wheelchair using a hoist. There may also be opportunities to provide additional disability support to other Prime Rehab participants as the business grows.

This role would suit someone who is dependable, patient and comfortable assisting people with physical disabilities. Experience with hoisting and transfers is highly regarded, and appropriate training and guidance will be provided regarding the participant's specific support needs.

About the Role

You will provide one-on-one support in the participant's home in Heidelberg West.

The main responsibility is assisting the participant with his morning transfer from bed to wheelchair using a hoist, following established procedures to ensure his safety, comfort and dignity.

Depending on the participant's needs and future opportunities, there may also be scope to take on additional support work shifts with other Prime Rehab clients.

Shift details:

- Approximately 2 shifts per week
- Tuesday and Thursday mornings
- Ongoing casual position
- Heidelberg West, VIC
- Additional shifts may become available with other participants

Responsibilities may include:

- Assisting the participant with morning transfers from bed to wheelchair using a hoist
- Following established transfer procedures and safety protocols
- Supporting the participant's comfort, dignity and independence
- Communicating effectively with the participant and the Prime Rehab team
- Reporting any concerns, changes or incidents appropriately




- Potentially providing additional disability support to other participants as opportunities arise

About You

You are

- Reliable, punctual and committed to consistent support
- Friendly, respectful and patient
- Comfortable supporting a person with significant physical support needs
- Attentive to safety and able to follow instructions and established procedures
- Interested in building an ongoing working relationship with the participant

Experience with hoists, manual handling and wheelchair transfers is highly desirable. Applicants with backgrounds in disability support, aged care, nursing, allied health assistance or other relevant care roles are encouraged to apply.

Essential Requirements

- NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Working rights in Australia
- Reliable and qualified approach to work
- Willingness to follow transfer procedures and complete any required training before providing support

Desirable

- Experience using hoists and assisting with bed-to-wheelchair transfers
- Experience supporting people with physical disabilities or neurological conditions
- Qualifications or studies in Disability Support, Allied Health Assistance, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or a related field
- Current First Aid certificate
