Raw Honey is seeking two experienced commercial beekeepers to join our family-owned, migratory beekeeping business on a full-time, permanent basis.

We operate approximately 2,500 hives across Victoria and southern NSW, producing artisan raw honey, quality eucalypt honey and providing spring pollination services. We are also proud to operate one of the few Certified Organic apiaries in the region, managing both conventional and certified organic hives.

With Varroa mite now established in Victoria, maintaining healthy colonies is more important than ever. To date we have successfully managed Varroa using organic treatments and cultural practices and aim to continue this approach.

The positions

- Experienced Skilled Beekeeper: Minimum 5 years' commercial beekeeping experience.
- Skilled Beekeeper: Minimum 2 years' commercial beekeeping experience.

Employment details

- Job type: Full time, permanent
- Salary: $79,500-82,000 per annum plus superannuation
- Location: Marraweeney, Victoria, with travel throughout Victoria and southern NSW, including remote forest locations.

Key responsibilities

- Manage and inspect hives, monitor bee health, treat Varroa, requeening and taking splits.
- Supering, harvesting and extracting honey, maintain extraction equipment and assist with honey bottling.
- Assemble, repair and maintain hives and equipment.




- Load and transport bees.
- Maintain accurate operational records.
- Follow safe work practices, use initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.

About you You will be a practical, hardworking and reliable beekeeper who enjoys working outdoors and understands the demands of commercial beekeeping.

You will need to

- Have the required commercial beekeeping experience for your chosen role.
- Hold a current car driver's licence; an HR or HC truck licence is preferred.
- Be physically fit and comfortable lifting honey boxes and working in hot conditions.
- Be willing to travel and stay away from home while working with the bees.
- Have a good eye for detail, a flexible attitude and the ability to work independently.
- Be willing to learn, maintain equipment and safely apply Varroa treatments using appropriate PPE.
- Be comfortable with the reality of bee stings. Applicants must not have a bee allergy.

Relevant qualifications in beekeeping, agriculture or a related field are desirable. Basic administrative skills and mechanical ability are also an advantage.
