The Chance
This is an opportunity for an accounting professional to take on broader responsibility, build their leadership experience and influence how a finance function operates. This is a full time position, though our client would be open to hiring a candidate who would like to work 4 days per week.
Reporting to the General Manager of Finance Operations, you will lead and develop a team of 5, with scope to shape the function and take ownership of its performance. You will bring an accounting perspective to financial controls, reporting, and commercial agreements, while strengthening systems and processes to give the team clearer direction and improve visibility over financial outcomes.
You will work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Merchandise, Procurement and Supply Chain to resolve commercial issues, improve rebate recovery and ensure accurate reporting.
The Challenge
Reporting to the General Manager of Finance Operations, some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the end-to-end supplier rebate process, including accrual setup, tracking, forecasting, reconciliation and collection
- Validating supplier rebate calculations against purchasing data and performance metrics
- Partnering with Commercial Finance, Merchandise, Procurement, Supply Chain and suppliers to resolve discrepancies and disputes
- Leading the wider team while improving rebate management systems, controls, reporting and automation across the function
- Reviewing and maintaining supplier contracts, translating commercial terms into measurable rebate calculations and monitoring compliance
- Identifying missed income and financial leakage while improving rebate recovery across categories and suppliers
- Reporting on rebate performance, variances and financial risk exposure
The Expertise
This is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified accountant who is currently working in a Finance Manager position to transition into a specialised 4 day a week role leading a mid-sized transactional finance team.
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:
- Minimum five years’ experience across financial accounting, transactional finance or rebates, with a sound understanding of accounting principles
- Experience leading a finance team and working with stakeholders across the business
- Knowledge of supplier rebates and the ability to interpret commercial agreements
- Experience improving systems and processes within a finance function
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field
- Part qualification or qualification across CA or CPA is essential
