FINANCE MANAGER – CONSTRUCTION - New role.

A sharp financial mind. A commercial outlook. The drive to make an impact.

Recruit Right WA is seeking an experienced Finance Manager with a strong construction background and an analytical approach to business performance.

This role suits someone who takes ownership of month-end, understands the financial detail behind construction projects and can turn numbers into explicit decisions. You will be confident questioning assumptions, investigating margin movements and helping management understand where the business is performing—and where action is needed.

The opportunity

You will lead the finance team and oversee daily financial operations, monthly reporting and year-end requirements. Working closely with management, Project Managers and Operations, you will provide practical insight into project costs, profitability, cash flow and forecasts.

Your responsibilities will include

- Taking ownership of month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

- Managing project accounting, work in progress, cost-to-complete and revenue recognition.

- Analysing project margins, cost movements and variances, identifying risks and opportunities early.

- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash-flow forecasting.

- Preparing budgets and forecasts, testing the assumptions behind them.

- Managing taxation, statutory compliance and external audit preparation.

- Producing clear management reports and contributing to Board reporting.

- Working with project teams to challenge forecasts and improve commercial outcomes.

- Leading and developing the finance team.

- Strengthening financial systems, controls and reporting processes.

What you will bring

Construction industry experience is required, together with a sound understanding of project financial performance.

You will also have

- CA, CPA, ACA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.

- Robust financial accounting and commercial analysis skills.

- Experience leading a finance team and managing the full month-end process.

- Knowledge of AASB and financial reporting requirements.

- Practical experience with construction project accounting, WIP, cost-to-complete and revenue recognition.

- Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance-analysis capability.

- Advanced Excel skills, with Power BI, financial modelling or data analytics experience highly regarded.

- Experience managing external audits and statutory obligations.

Your approach

You are commercially sharp, curious about the detail and determined to succeed. You follow through, ask thoughtful questions and confidently explain what the figures mean. You can build productive relationships while holding people accountable for accurate information and realistic forecasts.

To apply, send your CV to Gillian Mullins at @rrwa.com.au.
