- Full Stack Java dev - Spring Boot, Hibernate, Grails, RESTful APIs, microservices, web apps

Our client, Australia's national science agency and a leading multidisciplinary research organisation, requires the services of a Full Stack Java Developer for a 19 12-month contract.

Duties of the Full Stack Java Developer:

- Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software- Java as the primary development language.
- Develop and support web applications, RESTful APIs, microservices and cloud-based services across the application and technology stack.
- Develop and support scalable and reliable applications in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
- Containers and infrastructure automation.
- Automated testing, code review, Git, CI/CD and version control.
- Relational and/or NoSQL databases and SQL in developing and supporting data driven applications.
- Apply secure software development practices, including authentication, authorisation and secure coding, and contribute to security and vulnerability remediation.
- Work in Linux based environments and across modern application and cloud technologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of ALA platforms, products and engineering practices.

Skills and Experience - Full Stack Java Developer:

Essential criteria

- Strong hands-on software development experience, with Java as a primary development language.
- Experience with modern Java frameworks and technologies, such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, Grails or equivalent.




- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, web applications and/or microservices.
- Experience developing and supporting applications in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes or equivalent.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and automation, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi or equivalent.

Desirable criteria

- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of application and cloud security principles, including identity and access management, secrets, encryption, TLS/SSL and modern authentication standards.
- Experience with software testing, code reviews, version control and CI/CD practices
