Full-Time Chef – El Gordo Bendigo

Employment: Full-time, 38 ordinary hours per week

Salary: From $79,423 per annum plus superannuation, with higher remuneration where required to meet the applicable market salary.

El Gordo Bendigo is looking for a qualified and reliable Chef to join our café and restaurant team. We serve breakfast, lunch and Spanish-inspired tapas, with a focus on fresh ingredients and consistent quality.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present breakfast, lunch and tapas dishes.
- Contribute to menu planning, seasonal specials and recipe development.
- Monitor food quality, presentation and portion sizes.
- Estimate food costs and ingredient requirements, and assist with ordering.
- Manage stock rotation, food storage and waste reduction.
- Coordinate kitchen preparation and service.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide kitchen staff.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and allergen management standards.
- Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service.

About you





- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent relevant culinary qualification.
- At least one year of relevant Chef experience within the last five years, or equivalent part time experience.
- Ability to manage a kitchen section independently and maintain quality during busy service.
- Sound knowledge of menu planning, food costing, portion control and stock management.
- Solid understanding of food safety and dietary requirements.
- Good communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- Availability for rostered breakfast, lunch and evening services, including weekends and public holidays.
- Spanish or Mediterranean cooking experience is desirable.
