About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with strong database administration expertise to support enterprise database platforms, upgrades, migrations and performance optimisation within a complex ICT environment.

The successful candidate will work with technical teams to maintain database reliability, availability and data integrity while supporting platform upgrades, resolving technical issues and minimising operational risks.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and support enterprise database platforms, including SQL Server, IBM Db2 and MongoDB.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations and version transitions.
- Assess database environments for compatibility, performance and operational risks.
- Perform database performance tuning, troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Ensure data integrity, availability,



backup and recovery capabilities.
- Support database deployments and operations in containerised environments.
- Collaborate with technical teams to plan, test and implement database changes.
- Identify and mitigate risks while minimising downtime and service disruption.
- Maintain technical documentation covering configurations, changes, procedures and issues.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure engineering or database administration within enterprise ICT environments.
- Strong expertise in database upgrades, migrations, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL Server, IBM Db2 z/OS, Db2 Midrange and/or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, replication and data integrity practices.
- Ability to assess technical risks and resolve complex database issues.
- Strong documentation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

- Experience supporting databases in containerised environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise ICT change management and release processes.
- Experience working in large-scale or government ICT environments.

Additional Requirements: Occasional after-hours work may be required to support planned upgrades, migrations and critical incident resolution.
