Senior DevAx Engineer | AWS, GitHub & Developer Acceleration

Are you a senior engineer who loves building tools, automating processes and finding smarter ways for developers to work?

We’re looking for a Senior DevAx Engineer to help drive engineering excellence across a technology-led organisation. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of cloud engineering, developer experience, automation and AI, helping engineering teams become more productive, self-sufficient and effective.

You’ll be part of a team responsible for keeping engineering tooling and development practices at the forefront of the industry, with a strong focus on GitHub, AWS, Backstage and API development.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for mentoring others and continuously improving how software is built and delivered.

What you'll be doing

- Developer Acceleration: Improve developer productivity by enhancing the tools, platforms and processes engineers use every day.
- GitHub Excellence: Champion GitHub best practices, helping engineering teams become more capable and self-sufficient.
- Cloud Automation: Design and develop code-based solutions to automate AWS environments, workflows and engineering processes.
- API Development: Help evolve API capabilities, integrations and reusable engineering patterns.
- Engineering Best Practices: Drive improvements across CI/CD pipelines, DevOps processes, deployment standards and automation.
- Security by Design: Translate security requirements into practical tooling, patterns and standards for engineering teams.




- Technical Leadership: Work alongside the Principal Engineer to uplift the capability of the DevAx team, share knowledge and mentor fellow engineers.
- AI & Innovation: Explore how emerging AI capabilities can improve development practices and engineering productivity.

What we're looking for

We're interested in experienced engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems and influencing how teams work.

You'll ideally bring

- 7 years of hands-on experience with AWS and GitHub in corporate environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript.
- A solid background in backend object-oriented development, middleware and application integrations.
- Experience designing and building APIs, including RESTful services and JSON/XML integrations.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including VPC, Security Groups, EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS and CloudFormation.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation and containerisation technologies such as Docker.
- The ability to build maintainable, codified solutions rather than relying on manual processes.
- Robust communication skills and a genuine interest in mentoring, collaboration and technical knowledge sharing.
