Are you an experienced primary teacher ready to lecture and support placements in our Master of Teaching (Early Childhood & Primary)?

SCEI-HE is seeking a primary lecture with current (or eligible) Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration to join our Faculty of Education. This role combines lecturing with qualified placement responsibilities in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood & Primary) program.

We are looking for someone with a strong primary classroom background who wants to prepare the next generation of primary teachers through both teaching and hands-on placement support.

Ideal candidate

- Substantial primary teaching experience (Foundation–Year 6)
- Current VIT registration (full or provisional) or clear eligibility to obtain it
- Experience (or strong interest) in lecturing or teaching pre-service teachers
- Experience supporting, supervising or coordinating professional placements in primary schools
- Doctor of Education or PhD in Education (or related field) - required for teaching in this AQF 9 program

What you’ll do

✅ Lecturing and teaching

· Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops and seminars in primary education units

· Develop course materials, assessments and rubrics for face-to-face and online delivery

· Mark assessments and provide ongoing student support and consultation

· Contribute to curriculum design and continuous improvement

✅ Professional placements





· Support and coordinate professional placements for pre-service teachers

· Ensure placements meet AITSL Guidelines and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

· Build and maintain strong partnerships with primary schools and host organisations

· Liaise with mentor teachers, students and school leaders to support high-quality placement experiences

· Assist with the assessment of placement performance outcomes

About you

- Real primary classroom experience you can bring into higher education
- Strong understanding of contemporary primary pedagogies and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Ability to design engaging, practical learning experiences
- Comfortable with learning technologies (Moodle experience highly regarded)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Collaborative and student-centred

Desirable

- Prior experience lecturing or tutoring in teacher education
- Experience coordinating or supervising professional placements
- Curriculum design or academic quality assurance experience
- Higher education teaching qualification
