Machine Operator – Mowing, Tractor & Civil Plant
WA Treeworks | Perth Metro & Surrounds | Full-time The opportunity
If you’ve got a background in mowing or grounds maintenance and want to step up into a broader plant operator role, this is it. You’ll start on the gear you know, ride-on mowers and tractors, and we’ll build your skills across remote-controlled slope mowers, skid steers and excavators.
We’re a growing vegetation management business working for councils, government agencies and commercial clients. We want someone who takes pride in a clean, finished job and wants to grow with us.
What you’ll be doing
- Ride-on and tractor mowing on verges, reserves, drains and large blocks
- Firebreak installation and maintenance
- Vegetation maintenance on drain banks and steep or hard-to-reach areas using remote-controlled mowers
- Skid steer and excavator work: clearing, spreading mulch, minor earthworks and site cleanup
- Daily prestarts, basic servicing and keeping machines in good condition
- Working safely around traffic, the public and other crews
What success looks like In this role, success means:
- Firebreaks installed on time and to spec. Correct width, clean finish and done before the client’s deadline, with no call-backs.
- Drain banks left clean and maintained. Vegetation cut back properly, drains clear and the site left tidy.
- Efficient days. You plan your work,
keep the machine moving and get through the scheduled sites without cutting corners.
- Machines looked after. Prestarts done, issues reported early and no avoidable damage.
- Zero shortcuts on safety. You go home in one piece, and so does everyone around you.
- Clients notice. Councils and site managers are happy to see our crew turn up.
After 6–12 months, the right person will be confident across all our plant and trusted to run sites with minimal supervision. There’s a explicit path toward a leading hand role from there.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in grounds maintenance, mowing or similar outdoor work
- Confident on ride-on mowers and/or tractors
- Skid steer or excavator experience is a bonus, but not essential, because we’ll train you
- Current driver’s licence (MR licence is a bonus)
- Reliable, punctual and happy working outdoors in all conditions
- Takes pride in quality work and follows through
What’s in it for you
- $30 - $40r, depending on experience
- Training and tickets on new machinery, paid by us
- Well-maintained gear
- Steady, year-round work with a growing team
- A real path to leading hand and beyond for the right person
How to apply Send your resume and a short note about the machines you’ve operated to [email], or call [name] on [number].
