About the Role

Mechanical Fitter – Hydraulics & Assembly

Location: Wetherill Park, Sydney | Permanent, full-time

Valuable fitting work takes judgement, precision and pride in getting the details right. At MASPRO, we’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter who brings those qualities to the workshop and enjoys sharing their knowledge.

This opportunity combines hands-on hydraulic and mechanical assembly with technical guidance for a small team of Assembly Technicians. You’ll have the opportunity to influence the quality of what we build, help others develop and contribute practical ideas that improve how the workshop operates.

Your role

Reporting to the Components Workshop Manager, you’ll assemble, fit and inspect hydraulic cylinders and associated mining components at our Wetherill Park facility in Sydney.

Alongside your own fitting work, you’ll check assembly quality, troubleshoot issues and coach technicians through practical instruction and feedback. This is a technical role with no direct reports, where your experience and judgement will make a difference across the team.

Responsibilities

- Assemble and inspect components against engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
- Guide Assembly Technicians and verify completed work, addressing defects or technical issues before components progress through production.
- Troubleshoot fitting and assembly problems and develop practical solutions.
- Share your knowledge to build the team’s skills and confidence.
- Contribute to improvements in safety,



quality and workshop efficiency.

Qualifications

- You’re a qualified mechanical tradesperson who takes ownership of your work, spots the details that matter and works well alongside others.
- A relevant mechanical trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting), or equivalent.

Required Skills

- Experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulic assembly, heavy industrial equipment or a similar workshop environment.
- Confidence interpreting engineering drawings and using fitting tools, measuring equipment and workshop machinery.
- A reliable, safety-conscious approach and sound practical problem-solving skills.
- The ability to explain technical tasks clearly and support less experienced colleagues.

Preferred Skills

- Hydraulic cylinder or mining equipment experience is highly regarded.
- If your background is in another industrial setting, we welcome relevant transferable fitting skills and a willingness to learn.

Pay range and compensation package

- $45–$50/hr for all hours, inclusive of penalties
