Majestic Young Plants is a propagation nursery and horticultural company, supplying wholesale markets in Australia and internationally with high-quality plant material. We run an in-house tissue culture laboratory in Healesville, Victoria, and are seeking two experienced Nurserypersons to propagate plants through tissue culture.

Key responsibilities

- Propagating plants by tissue culture, including subculturing and multiplication under aseptic conditions in laminar flow cabinets
- Preparing and sterilising culture media and equipment
- Supporting the initiation of current plant material
- Deflasking, then sticking and acclimatising tissue culture plantlets in the nursery
- Monitoring cultures and plantlets for contamination, growth and quality
- Keeping accurate propagation and production records
- Maintaining strict laboratory hygiene and cleaning standards




- Appropriate handling of propagation material

Requirements

- Certificate III in Nursery Operations or Production Horticulture, or at least 2 years’ experience in plant propagation (tissue culture experience highly regarded)
- Good aseptic technique, fine hand skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work at a steady, consistent rate
- Understanding of quality standards and of health and safety regulations
- Literacy and numeracy skills, and proficiency in MS Office
