As one of the leading assisted reproductive services providers globally, our team of clinicians, scientists and healthcare professionals work together to deliver exceptional patient care, innovative treatments and life-changing outcomes every day.

We are on an exciting technology transformation journey. We're modernising platforms, streamlining systems, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities and investing in innovation across a complex and rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

We're now seeking a Security Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cybersecurity at Virtus Health. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor of a major transformation and make a genuine impact on the security posture of a national healthcare organisation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Security Engineer is a senior technical specialist responsible for the day-to-day effectiveness, optimisation and continuous improvement of Virtus Health's security platforms.

This is not a governance-only role. We're looking for someone who enjoys being on the tools, solving complex security challenges and partnering with infrastructure teams to implement meaningful change. You'll lead security investigations, manage vulnerabilities, improve security controls and help drive the security strategy into practical outcomes.

You will work across a broad range of technologies including MXDR, EDR/XDR platforms, email security, identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management and cloud security environments.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations

- Monitor, maintain and optimise security technologies across the Virtus environment.

- Drive vulnerability management, remediation and security hardening initiatives.

- Review and improve the effectiveness of existing security controls.

- Partner with infrastructure teams to strengthen endpoint, server and cloud security.

- Produce operational security reporting and insights for technology leadership.

Incident Response & Investigation

- Lead the technical response to cybersecurity incidents.

- Conduct investigations, threat analysis and root cause assessments.

- Coordinate security response activities and post-incident reviews.

- Act as the escalation point for complex security matters.

Security Engineering & Continuous Improvement

- Evaluate current security technologies and participate in proof-of-concept activities.

- Contribute technical expertise to security architecture decisions.

- Support the rollout of security enhancements across the organisation.

- Help shape the future state security environment during a major transformation program.

Mentoring & Collaboration

- Mentor and support the Associate Security Analyst.

- Provide security guidance across technology teams.

- Build strong relationships with infrastructure, applications and project teams to ensure security is embedded in delivery outcomes.

About You

You'll be an experienced cybersecurity practitioner who enjoys balancing technical depth with business collaboration.

You'll bring:

- Proven experience in a Security Engineer, Senior Security Engineer, Security Operations Engineer or similar role.

- Strong hands-on experience with EDR, XDR and MDR platforms.

- Experience managing security tooling across enterprise environments.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Intune security policies and endpoint security controls.

- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001 and Essential Eight.

- Experience with vulnerability management, threat detection and incident response.

- Exposure to SIEM, identity management, email security, firewalls and cloud security technologies.

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

- A collaborative approach and a passion for mentoring others.

- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and evolving business needs.

We'd Love to Hear From You If…

- You're passionate about cybersecurity and enjoy solving real-world security challenges.

- You want to influence the future direction of a growing security function.

- You enjoy being hands-on rather than purely policy-focused. You want to join an organisation where your ideas, expertise and contributions will genuinely shape outcomes
