Virginia Nursery Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Software Developer to join our growing team.

If you enjoy improving existing software, developing new features and finding smarter ways for technology to support a business, this could be an exciting opportunity for you.

We’re looking for someone with strong Microsoft Access, VBA and SQL Server experience who can help us continue developing our existing business applications, while also contributing to future software projects involving C# and .NET.

Virginia Nursery Pty Ltd is a well-established, family-owned South Australian business, home to one of Australia’s largest garden centres, along with extensive plant production and wholesale nursery operations.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position involving software programming, database development, system improvements and general IT support.

Our immediate priority is the continued development and enhancement of our existing Microsoft Access applications, which are integrated with SQL Server databases.

We have a range of improvements, new features and automation projects planned and are looking for someone who enjoys taking existing software systems to the next level.

Looking ahead,



we also plan to expand our software capabilities through the development of new applications using C# and .NET technologies.

You’ll work closely with management to understand business requirements, identify opportunities for improvement and develop practical, reliable software solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Developing, maintaining and enhancing existing Microsoft Access applications using VBA.

- Designing and implementing new features, forms, reports and automated processes.

- Working with Microsoft SQL Server databases, including queries, stored procedures and performance optimisation.

- Troubleshooting existing software and improving system reliability and efficiency.

- Identifying opportunities to streamline business processes through software development and automation.

- Assisting with the planning and development of future applications using C# and .NET.

- Integrating new technologies and applications with existing business systems.

- Providing general IT support, including computer troubleshooting, software, hardware and basic networking.

- Working directly with management and staff to develop practical solutions to everyday business challenges.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is confident in their programming abilities, enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in developing software that works.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- Solid experience in Microsoft Access development, including VBA programming, forms, reports and queries.

- Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, SQL queries and optimisation.

- Experience with C# programming and .NET application development would be highly regarded.





- Experience integrating Microsoft Access applications with SQL Server databases.

- Good general IT knowledge, including Windows, Microsoft Office, computer hardware and networking.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

- The ability to work independently, manage projects and communicate effectively.

A proactive attitude and genuine interest in improving business systems.
