About Elite Energy Events
Elite Energy Events is one of Australia’s leading multisport event organisers, delivering iconic triathlon, running, and adventure races across the country.
With more than 30 events annually, including the Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival, Run Wollongong, and Run Huskisson Running Festival, we’re dedicated to creating unforgettable race-day experiences for athletes and communities alike.
About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and creative Web Developer / Designer with a good eye for design, UX and digital experiences to join our team and help build and maintain our event websites and digital platforms.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining web development, digital and graphic design, content management and day-to-day platform support. You’ll work across our portfolio of events, helping maintain and improve existing websites, build new pages, update content and create engaging digital experiences for our athletes.
Design will also be an important part of the role. Alongside web and digital design, you’ll help produce and adapt creative assets for our events, including signage, print materials, sponsor assets, social and digital graphics, resizing artwork and preparing files for production.
You’ll also have the opportunity to work with APIs, analytics, integrations and modern AI tools such as Codex, Claude and Cursor. We’re keen for someone who is curious about new technology and interested in using AI and automation to make development, design and everyday workflows more efficient.
You don’t need to be an expert in everything. We’re looking for a digital all-rounder with solid foundational skills, a flair for design, good attention to detail and a willingness to learn. You’ll have support from the wider team while also having plenty of room to develop your skills, experiment with new tools and bring your own ideas to the role.
Whether you’re building an event page, preparing artwork for print, updating event content or troubleshooting a WordPress issue, the goal is to create experiences that are clear, engaging and on brand, both online and at our events.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, develop and improve a portfolio of event websites and digital platforms.
- Audit and redesign key event websites to create cleaner, faster and more intuitive user journeys.
- Design and build engaging pages and digital experiences with a strong focus on usability and visual consistency.
- Support day-to-day graphic design requirements alongside web responsibilities, including event signage, minor logo and brand updates, resizing and adapting artwork, digital assets, and preparing files for print.
- Apply UX best practices to athlete navigation, event information, registrations and key conversion points.
- Manage website content, event information, imagery, navigation and other digital assets across multiple events.
- Manage and troubleshoot WordPress environments, plugins, integrations and supporting platforms.
- Work with APIs and third-party platforms, including maintaining and troubleshooting existing integrations and implementing new ones where required.
- Use up-to-date AI tools to support development, debugging, prototyping, content workflows, design and automation.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve internal workflows and reduce repetitive work.
- Recommend and implement creative technical solutions that improve both the athlete experience and the way our internal team operates.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations and sponsorship teams to ensure websites and digital assets accurately reflect events, campaigns, partners and branding.
- Document website, platform and content management processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Monitor and improve SEO, site performance, accessibility and responsive behaviour.
- Use analytics and user behaviour data to identify opportunities for ongoing improvement.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in web development, digital production or UX/UI design, ideally across multiple websites or brands.
- Strong WordPress experience, particularly Elementor or similar visual development tools.
- Positive working knowledge of HTML and CSS, with JavaScript or PHP experience highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of responsive design, UX principles and accessibility.
- A strong eye for clean, functional and engaging design, you care about both how something works and how it looks.
- Practical graphic design skills and experience with tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Figma or similar.
- Comfortable adapting existing brand assets, creating digital and print artwork, and preparing production-ready files.
- Comfortable managing website content and working across CMS and digital platforms.
- Experience working with APIs, integrations or structured data.
- Comfortable troubleshooting technical issues across websites, hosting, plugins and third-party platforms.
- Familiarity with modern AI tools such as Codex, Claude, Cursor or similar development tools, and an interest in using AI practically within digital and creative workflows.
- Experience with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or user behaviour/UX analytics platforms.
- Familiar with project management tools such as Monday, Trello or JIRA
- JavaScript, PHP, Git/GitHub or server/hosting experience.
- Understanding of SEO and web performance fundamentals.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Bonus skills:
- Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.
- Experience with Figma or other design/prototyping tools.
- Experience using AI tools for coding, automation, content management or workflow improvement.
- Experience analysing UX and analytics data to inform design decisions.
- Interest in sport, running, triathlon or events.
What We’re Looking For
A proactive web and digital all-rounder who takes ownership from idea through to build and go-live.
You’re a creative problem-solver with a sharp eye for design, detail and usability. You’re equally comfortable improving the visual hierarchy of an event page, investigating why an integration has stopped working, managing content across multiple sites, or experimenting with an AI tool to find a faster way to solve a problem.
You enjoy turning cluttered pages and processes into clean, intuitive experiences.
You’re curious about new technology and willing to learn. We don’t expect you to know every platform or tool already, but we do want someone who is comfortable figuring things out.
You thrive in a fast-moving, evolving environment and can help introduce structure, consistency and best practice as we grow.
Most importantly, you enjoy working in a small team that values initiative, trust, collaboration and creative freedom.
