Role Description This full time in office Upholsterer role is based in Brisbane, QLD and involves hands-on restoration and upholstery of chairs and other seating. Day-to-day tasks include assessing furniture condition, removing old fabric and padding, cutting and fitting new materials, and applying upholstery techniques to achieve a high-quality finish. The Upholsterer will repair frames, replace or adjust springs and cushioning, and ensure seating is structurally sound and comfortable.

The role also includes maintaining a clean and safe workshop, organizing materials and tools,



and communicating with team members or supervisors about job requirements and timelines. Attention to detail, practical problem-solving, and consistent craftsmanship are central to this position.

Qualifications
Strong upholstery skills, including fabric handling, padding, and finishing techniques
Experience working with seating and furniture structures, including frames, springs, and cushioning
Ability to work with tapestry and decorative elements for detailed or custom upholstery projects
Proficient sewing skills, including machine and hand stitching for upholstery applications
Experience in a workshop or furniture repair environment and familiarity with relevant tools and equipment
Good physical stamina and ability to lift, move, and handle furniture safely
Attention to detail, robust time management, and ability to follow job specifications accurately
Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Prior experience as an upholsterer or in a related trade; vocational training or apprenticeship is an advantage
