The Engineering team plans and delivers the council's capital works program, covering roads, bridges, drainage and footpaths.
The team also manages GIS and asset data across the shire.
You'll get a varied, hands-on workload in a close-knit team, plus the lifestyle benefits of regional Victoria.About the OpportunityThe council needs an experienced Senior Project Engineer on a temporary basis.
You'll report to the Manager Engineering.
You'll plan, manage and supervise projects in the Capital Works and Strategic Development programs from scoping through to handover.Key ResponsibilitiesScope future projects in line with Council plans and strategies, and prepare engineering reportsReview or prepare designs, design briefs,



technical specifications and tender documentsSupervise internal CAD designs so they meet current standardsRun tender evaluations and prepare evaluation reports and recommendationsPrepare documents for government grant applications and acquittalsCoordinate approvals and permits for civil infrastructure projectsBuild project schedules, risk registers and contingency plansManage contracts, budgets, variations and quality plans, and supervise constructionLiaise with the community, utilities, statutory authorities and internal teamsCarry out post-completion inspections and make sure assets are capitalised correctlySupport the Manager Engineering in running the team and the capital works programAbout YouA recognised degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Skilled Engineer in VictoriaProven project and contract management experience on roads, bridges and other civil infrastructure across the whole project life cycleOnsite experience managing infrastructure construction, ideally in local government or a state road authorityStrong knowledge of construction materials, equipment and techniquesExperience in scoping, estimating, contract documentation and tenderingExcellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder skills
