Benmax is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance function of our Service business across the ACT and the Newcastle/Hunter Region.Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of day-to-day finance operations and the month-end close, lead the team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, and act as the principal financial adviser to the leadership team.The role will suit a commercially minded finance professional who works closely with operations, communicates financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders, and wants to contribute to decision-making at a senior level.This role can be based in either Canberra, ACT or Newcastle, NSW.What you will be doingLeading day-to-day finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking and cash managementManaging, coaching and developing the AP, AR and payroll teamOwning the month-end close, from journals and reconciliations through to WIP, revenue recognition and the monthly reporting packPresenting monthly results, variance analysis and commentary to the leadership teamLeading the annual budget, periodic forecasts and cash flow forecastingManaging debtor collections and creditor payments to protect working capital and supplier relationshipsEnsuring compliance across BAS, PAYG withholding, superannuation, payroll tax, FBT and workers compensationRunning the year-end and external audit process with auditors, tax advisers, banks and insurersMaintaining internal controls, delegations of authority and finance policies,



and improving how our finance processes and systems runOverseeing job costing, contract billing and margin reporting and supporting Group finance with intercompany, consolidation and reportingWhat you will bringBachelor degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related disciplineCA ANZ or CPA Australia qualification, with current membershipSeven years' accounting experience, including three years as a Finance Manager or in an equivalent senior roleExperience leading an AP, AR and payroll team, and owning month-end close and management reporting in a mid-sized businessStrong technical accounting knowledge, including Australian Accounting Standards and revenue recognition for service and contract workAdvanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with experience in Xero, Procore and Employment Hero or similar systems, and a working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and awardsA explicit communicator who can explain financial results to non-finance managers, with sound commercial judgement, strong attention to detail and a track record of meeting deadlinesExperience in a services, contracting, construction or building services businessAbout usBenmax is one of Australia's most experienced mechanical services and HVAC businesses.
