Bulloo Shire Council is seeking a capable, hands-on finance professional to join its close-knit team in Thargomindah.

The Role
Reporting to the Administration and Finance Manager and working alongside Council's Accountant, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of Council's finance functions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Oversee accounts payable, receivable, procurement, rates and admin functions
Reconciliations and financial reporting
Supporting budgets and financial monitoring
Take control of asset management and reporting
Supporting and guiding finance team members
Working with managers across Council on financial matters
Identifying practical improvements to processes
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll gain exposure across a broad range of finance activities while being supported by an experienced team.
About You




You may be a Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant or similar finance professional looking to take the next step.
Equally, you may be an experienced finance practitioner seeking a rewarding role in a welcoming regional community.
You'll ideally bring:
Solid practical finance or accounting experience
Robust reconciliation and financial administration skills
An understanding of budgets and financial controls
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Confidence communicating with people across an organisation
Experience in a supervisory role
The ability to manage competing priorities and take ownership
A positive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn
Local government experience is advantageous but not essential.
More important are strong finance foundations, sound judgement, leadership experience, and a genuine commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
Experience with procurement, asset management, rates or working within a regulated environment will also be well regarded.
