Job Description
Are you a Cloud Security Engineer who enjoys building things rather than simply reviewing them?
We're looking for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join a small, specialist team focused on strengthening cloud security across a large technology environment.
This is an engineering-first role, working at the intersection of Cloud, Cyber Security and Development.
You'll have the opportunity to build automated security capabilities, solve complex technical problems and help shape the future direction of cloud security.
What you'll be doing
Design and build scalable, secure cloud capabilities across AWS
Develop automation and tooling using Python and other technologies
Work across areas including Vulnerability Management, Detection Engineering, Incident Response, IAM and Network Security
Partner with Cloud, Cyber Security and Development teams to embed security from design through to deployment
Provide technical guidance on cloud security principles, architecture and best practice
Identify and remediate security weaknesses and emerging threats
Build self-service capabilities that allow teams to adopt secure practices at scale
Contribute to DevOps, automation and security engineering best practices
Mentor and uplift security capability across the wider technology environment
Help influence the strategic direction of Cloud Security
What we're looking for
You'll be an experienced cloud engineer with a strong security mindset and a genuine passion for solving problems through technology.
Ideally, you'll bring:
5+ years' experience working with AWS
2+ years' software development experience
Strong Python development skills and experience building testable software
Experience designing and deploying scalable, reliable and secure AWS applications
Strong understanding of cloud networking and core Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP and distributed networks
Exposure to, or a strong interest in, security domains such as IAM, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response and Detection Engineering
Robust technical documentation and communication skills
The ability to operate independently and confidently engage with senior technical stakeholders
AWS certifications, particularly AWS Security or AWS Architecture, would be advantageous.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to join a team where engineering and security genuinely come together.
You'll have the autonomy to build, automate and improve rather than simply operate existing processes.
You'll also have a genuine voice in how the organisation evolves its approach to Cloud Security.
If you're someone who enjoys learning, challenges the status quo and wants to have a tangible impact on cloud security at scale, we'd love to hear from you.
