Job Description
MCM Construct is a national transport and logistics business working across the construction and infrastructure sectors.
We are currently moving precast segments out of Benalla for a major infrastructure project in Melbourne, and we're looking for a Load Out Supervisor to own what happens in the yard every morning.
This is a hands‐on role for someone who takes pride in getting it right.
Trucks need to be turned around quickly, but nothing leaves the yard until the load is restrained properly and the paperwork is complete.
If you are methodical, hold a line on standards, and like manual handling and being behind the desk, then this will suit you.
The role
You will be based at the LS Precast facility in Benalla, reporting to our Day and Night Transport Managers in Melbourne.
Day to day you will:
Check and audit driver runsheets and load out dockets before any vehicle leaves site
Inspect every load for correct restraint, and work alongside drivers to lash loads to the required standard — this is a physical, hands‐on part of the job, not a clipboard exercise
Carry out lashing spot checks to confirm all are in date, undamaged and fit for purpose, tag out anything that isn't and arrange for fixing or replacement.
Monitor driver behaviour and compliance while on site, and report concerns up the line
Keep trucks moving — identify hold‐ups in the load out sequence and sort them before they become delays
Maintain stock control of all lashing assets, with accurate records of what is on site, what is issued and what is returned
Maintain the inventory of the small parts container and flag reorders before stock runs short
Make sure every load is completed in a regimented, methodical and safe manner, every time
About being based at LS Precast
You will be working inside another company's facility.
That means you must comply fully with LS Precast site rules, inductions and directions at all times, and you will be representing MCM Construct to our client every single day.
We need someone who understands what that means — professional conduct, clean presentation, respectful dealings with site personnel, and the judgement to raise an issue through the right channel rather than have it out on the floor.
What we're looking for
Solid understanding of load restraint principles and the National Transport Commission Load Restraint Guide
Experience in transport, logistics, precast or a similar heavy industry yard environment
Confident working around heavy vehicles, mobile plant and lifting equipment
Genuinely solid attention to detail — this role exists because the paperwork and the restraint have to be right
Able to hold the standard with drivers, and the people skills to do it without creating friction
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling in all weather
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Current driver's licence and own reliable transport to site.
Competent with basic computer and tablet-based checklists and records
Able to pass a pre‐employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
Highly regarded, not essential
HR, HC or MC licence
Previous experience in a load out, yard supervisor or compliance checking role
Experience with precast or oversize loads
Hours, rate and progression
The role starts as a casual position for approximately the first six weeks, after which it moves to a permanent full time role.
Hours initially are Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 11:00, with scope to grow as the project volume increases.
We are looking for someone to start immediately.
