We are seeking a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic first year Apprentice Horticulturist to join our Parks and Gardens team.
n
This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, has an interest in plants, gardens and the environment and is keen to develop practical skills while completing their Horticulture apprenticeship.
n
Working alongside our experienced Parks and Gardens team, you will gain hands on experience in the maintenance and care of Council's parks, gardens and public spaces.
DUTIES OF THE ROLE n
n
Parks and gardens maintenance
n
Mowing and general grounds maintenance
n
Gardening and landscaping
n
Planting and pruning
n
Tree and vegetation management
n
Weed and pest management
n
Irrigation maintenance
n
Learning to safely operate and care for equipment and machinery
n
Maintaining high standards of presentation across public spaces
n
ABOUT YOU n
n
Has a genuine interest in Horticulture, gardening and working outdoors
n
Good communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills
n
Enthusiastic and willing to learn
n




Ability to undertake heavy manual work in all weather conditions
n
Reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work
n
Positive attitude and solid work ethic
n
Works well in a team setting
n
Committed to workplace health and safety
n
Willing to undertake a Cert III in Horticulture
n
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? n

Full time – 38 hours per week

Hourly rate dependant school completion and age
n
Rostered day off every 3 weeks

Nationally recognised qualification at the end of the apprenticeship
