Job Summary n
We require an experienced Broadcom Datacom DBA consultant to provide additional specialist capacity and backup coverage for the existing Datacom DBA supporting the Phoenix project.
n
The primary purpose of the role is to remove the project's dependency on a single Datacom DBA resource and ensure that suitably skilled DBA coverage is available throughout development, testing and implementation preparation.
n
Most activities will be performed in non-production environments, supporting the development and testing teams and maintaining the Datacom environments required for Phoenix delivery. This is a hands-on DBA role requiring current practical experience administering, building, refreshing, diagnosing and tuning Datacom databases.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Provide effective backup and capacity support for the existing Datacom DBA.
n
Administer and maintain Datacom databases across Phoenix non-production environments.
n
Build, configure, refresh and reset Datacom databases and environments to support development and testing.
n
Diagnose and resolve database faults, data-access issues, environmental problems and performance concerns.
n
Support developers and testers with database availability, data preparation, troubleshooting and technical analysis.
n
Undertake database installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching activities where required.
n
Monitor and tune Datacom databases to maintain appropriate reliability and performance.
n
Support database backup, recovery,



restore and integrity-validation activities.
n
Investigate complex issues involving Datacom databases, application access, batch processing and non-production environments.
n
Support preparation for test cycles, implementation rehearsals, migration activities and production readiness.
n
Maintain appropriate DBA procedures, configuration records and operational documentation.
n
Share knowledge and maintain sufficient visibility of database activities to ensure continuity when the existing Datacom DBA is unavailable.
n
Provide production support or implementation assistance where specifically required, although the primary focus will remain on non-production delivery.
n
Required Skills & Experience n
n
At least 10 years of substantial hands‐on experience installing, administering, supporting and tuning Broadcom Datacom databases.
n
Recent and active experience working as a Datacom DBA, rather than relying only on historical Datacom knowledge.
n
Demonstrated experience building, refreshing, restoring, reconfiguring and maintaining Datacom databases and environments.
n
Strong troubleshooting capability, including diagnosis and resolution of database, performance, integrity and environmental issues.
n
Strong understanding of Datacom database structures, utilities, operational processes, backup and recovery.
n
Experience supporting application development, system testing, integration testing and implementation activities.
n
Experience administering Datacom in complex IBM mainframe environments.
n
Ability to work independently and provide credible backup coverage for an experienced Datacom DBA.
n
Robust communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with developers, testers, infrastructure specialists and application support teams.
