experienced Plant Operators
to join a busy
roads and asphalt crew in Cairns
.
n
This is a great opportunity for experienced operators with a background in
asphalt, road construction, civil construction or mobile plant operation
to secure ongoing work with the potential to develop skills across a range of paving and plant operations.
About the Role n
You will work as part of an experienced asphalt paving crew, supporting the safe and efficient completion of daily road and paving projects across the Cairns region.
Depending on your experience, you may be operating: n
n
Multi-tyre rollers
n
Steel rollers
n
Skid steers / Bobcats
n
Profiling equipment
n
Sweeping attachments
n
Other mobile plant and paving equipment
n
n
This is a
hands-on role
, with all crew members expected to assist with general labouring tasks such as raking, sweeping and shovelling asphalt when required.
n
As you gain experience, there is the opportunity to become
multi-skilled across different paving and plant operations
.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Safely operate mobile plant and paving equipment
n
Complete daily pre-starts and equipment checks
n
Follow correct start-up and shutdown procedures
n
Assist with asphalt paving operations
n
Monitor paving levels, depth, shape and surface finish
n
Assist with loading and unloading trucks and materials
n
Safely manage reversing vehicles with spotters
n
Complete general labouring duties including raking, sweeping and shovelling asphalt
n
Clean and maintain plant and equipment
n
Assist with site setup and pack-up
n
Maintain a clean and safe work area
n
Attend toolbox meetings and follow all HSEQ requirements
n
Work closely with the Foreman and paving crew to meet daily targets
n
Follow all site safety and traffic management requirements
n
About You n
We are looking for reliable, safety-focused operators who have experience in
roads, civil construction, asphalt or paving
.
You will ideally have: n
n
Previous experience operating mobile plant
n
Experience in roads, civil or asphalt environments
n
Current
Driver's Licence - essential
n
Relevant plant tickets/VOCs highly regarded
n
Ability to complete manual labouring tasks when required
n
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
n
Good communication and teamwork skills
n
Reliable transport and a strong work ethic
n
Ability to work outdoors around hot asphalt, machinery, noise and varying weather conditions
n
Willingness to undertake additional training and competency assessments
n
Experience on the following will be highly regarded: n

Physical Requirements n
This role involves a combination of
plant operation and manual labour
.
n
n
Operating mobile plant for extended periods
n
Sitting and operating equipment for extended periods
n
Climbing in and out of machinery
n
Manual handling and lifting up to approximately 25kg
n
Raking, sweeping and shovelling asphalt
n
Working around hot asphalt, noise and machinery
n
Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
n
