The Role
The Role
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will
underwrite General Liability.
In this role, you will develop long-term, sustainable broker relationships through established networks and an allocated broker portfolio, working closely with the State Manager QLD.
You will contribute to the
profitable growth
and
strategic development
of the QLD/NT portfolio while supporting broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite General Liability products within delegated authority
Develop and maintain strong, senior-level broker relationships to support profitable portfolio growth
Deliver excellent service standards, ensuring high-quality underwriting decisions and timely responses
Evaluate, negotiate, and approve insurance quotations




Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and portfolio profitability
Represent the organisation at industry events and relevant professional organisations
Collaborate with the State Manager in business planning, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making
Oversee adherence to underwriting governance, compliance standards, and risk appetite
The Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & Experience
About You
You are an underwriting professional with solid technical capability and a commercial mindset.
You bring a proactive approach to portfolio management, coupled with the potential to contribute to broader business strategy.
Essential
Minimum 2+ years insurance industry experience in underwriting and/or broking
Technical underwriting capability across General Liability
Some working knowledge of Financial Lines products would be an advantage
Proven ability to negotiate and approve insurance quotations
Strong broker relationship management and marketing skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of numeracy and analytical capability
Proficiency in Excel, Lotus Notes, and standard business software programs
Decision-making capability with a balanced approach to risk
Desired
Diploma or Degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field
