APS5 Collection Access Officers

- Canberra based - 12 month contract
- Australian Citizens only
- $53-$60 an hour

Our Federal Government client is seeking Collection Access Officers (APS5) to join a specialist collections and access team supporting the management and accessibility of culturally significant archival and research materials.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage collection access requests and enquiries within agreed service standards.
- Assess access conditions, copyright, privacy requirements, cultural considerations and associated risks.
- Identify and appropriately escalate sensitive or high-risk matters.
- Prepare clear recommendations and assessments relating to collection access decisions.
- Deliver professional and responsive client service to community members, researchers and government stakeholders.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, consultations, tours and public events.
- Contribute to process improvements, team planning and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Support accurate record keeping and contemporary information management practices.

Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills

- Robust organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience assessing rights,



restrictions, risks and access conditions relating to records, collections, archives or information assets.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication, judgement and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and information management skills.

Technical Skills

- Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Teams and SharePoint.
- Drupal and/or Axiell experience highly desirable.

Cultural Capability

- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting First Nations peoples and communities.
- Experience engaging respectfully with First Nations stakeholders.
- Ability to work appropriately with culturally sensitive information.
- Commitment to culturally safe and respectful practices.
