THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function for our Victorian business, reporting directly to the General Manager. You will own how VIC projects are priced, contracted, forecast and finished — making sure projects land on budget, risk is seen early, and our commercial position is protected from tender through to final account.

This is a genuine step up for a senior Contracts Manager, Contracts Manger, or for a Commercial Manager ready to take a whole business unit rather than a portfolio of projects. Equally, if you are an experienced commercial leader who has been through the hard challenges and come out the other side, that experience is just as welcome here. You'll have the ear of the GM, real authority, and the room to set how commercial is done in Victoria.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Project commercial performance

■ Oversee the commercial management of every VIC project.

■ Chair the VIC commercial meeting and run monthly project reviews

■ Lead the commercial handover into delivery.





Tenders and work winning

■ Develop the commercial strategies that win competitive tenders and maximise outcomes on ECI and negotiated projects, working closely with estimating and bid management.

■ Undertake contract reviews with external legal counsel, and negotiate head contracts alongside senior management.

■ Feed insight from live and recently completed projects back into the conversion team.

Contracts, risk and disputes

■ Lead and mentor project teams through disputes, and make sure distressed projects are managed strategically and seen through to resolution.

Cash, systems and capability

■ Ensure compliance with Buildcorp business systems and financial policy, including Jobpac and our group commercial platforms.

ABOUT YOU

■ At least 10 years in commercial roles in the building industry. This role needs genuine depth — it is not a first commercial management appointment for someone still building their experience.

■ A track record from Contracts Administrator through to Contracts or Commercial Manager, with real ownership of contractual outcomes along the way.

■ Genuine commercial problem solving: you can see the position, work out the options, and see the matter through to resolution rather than handing it on.

■ Experience across commercial building — recent build, fitout,



refurbishment or residential. Tier 1 and Tier 2 backgrounds are equally welcome.

■ Construction law exposure is highly regarded — formal legal qualifications, or hard-won experience running contentious matters with counsel.

■ A stable career history. We are looking for someone who has given their previous roles real time and seen their projects through.
