Are you a Clinical Psychologist who enjoys working with children and teenagers, particularly those with ADHD, Autism, anxiety and other mental health or developmental challenges?
We're recruiting a Clinical Psychologist to join an established and growing multidisciplinary paediatric practice in Newcastle, working 3 days per week across two clinics in Carrington and Merewether.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced Paediatricians, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists in a genuinely collaborative environment where your clinical judgement is respected, your caseload can be shaped around your interests, and you're not under constant pressure to meet unrealistic KPIs.
The clinic is looking for someone who takes a neuroaffirming, evidence-based approach to care and understands the importance of working collaboratively to achieve meaningful outcomes for children, adolescents and their families.
What's on Offer?
- Salary package of up to $135,000 + Super (full-time equivalent)
- Part-time opportunity working 3 days per week
- Monday in Carrington, Tuesday and Wednesday in Merewether
- 100% clinic-based role with no home or community visits
- Established referrals from Paediatricians and other Allied Health clinicians
- Predominantly school-aged children and adolescents, including a large teenage caseload
- Mixture of psychological therapy, assessment and ongoing intervention
- Opportunity to work with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression and learning difficulties
- Regular multidisciplinary case discussions and collaborative treatment planning
- Flexibility around caseload structure and daily appointment numbers
- Realistic productivity expectations without a heavy KPI-driven culture
- Access to practice management systems and AI-assisted clinical documentation
- Growing clinic with opportunities to contribute to future service development
The Opportunity: You'll join a well-established specialist paediatric service supporting children and adolescents with a broad range of neurodevelopmental, emotional and behavioural presentations.
The clinic sees a high volume of children with ADHD and Autism, alongside teenagers experiencing anxiety,
depression, trauma-related difficulties and learning disorders.
The average patient is around 9 years old, although the clinic supports children through to young adulthood, providing opportunities to work across a variety of developmental stages.
Your role will involve a combination of:
- Providing evidence-based psychological therapy for school-aged children and adolescents
- Supporting children and teenagers with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression and emotional regulation challenges
- Conducting psychological assessments and contributing to multidisciplinary diagnostic pathways
- Working with children and families presenting with learning disorders and developmental concerns
- Developing individualised treatment plans using neuroaffirming, trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches
- Collaborating closely with Paediatricians, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists
- Participating in regular multidisciplinary meetings to discuss more complex presentations
- Supporting families with practical strategies and education around their child's developmental and psychological needs
- Maintaining clear clinical documentation using established practice management systems
The practice has an established internal referral network, with clinicians regularly referring patients between Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Paediatrics.
This isn't a high-volume, KPI-driven psychology role. The clinic values quality clinical care, encourages clinicians to work at a sustainable pace and is open to discussing caseload expectations based on your experience and preferred working style.
About You: We're looking for a Clinical Psychologist who genuinely enjoys working with young people and values being part of a multidisciplinary environment.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Current AHPRA registration with Clinical Psychology endorsement
- Experience working with children, adolescents or young adults
- Confidence supporting ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression and other psychological presentations
- Strong clinical assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention skills
- An understanding of neuroaffirming practice and trauma-informed approaches
- The ability to adapt your therapeutic approach to each child's individual needs
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to clinical care
- A genuine appreciation for the expertise and perspectives of other clinicians
- A willingness to contribute to a positive, supportive team culture
Above all, the clinic is looking for someone who is open-minded, flexible in their clinical approach and understands that supporting children and adolescents often requires input from multiple disciplines.
A Team That Actually Works Together. One of the biggest attractions of this opportunity is the collaborative team environment.
Rather than working independently in a consulting room all day, you'll have the opportunity to regularly engage with Paediatricians and Allied Health professionals, share clinical perspectives and work together on treatment plans.
The team has established regular multidisciplinary meetings, including a larger team discussion on Tuesdays, and encourages open communication between clinicians.
The clinic has also invested in systems such as Gentu and Heidi AI to support clinical documentation and reduce unnecessary administrative work.
With additional Paediatricians joining the service and continued growth across its two Newcastle locations, there's genuine scope to contribute to how Psychology services develop in the future.
