The Opportunity

We are seeking an Associate with a minimum of two years’ post-admission experience to join our growing Commercial Litigation and Insolvency team.

This role is ideal for a lawyer looking to work on complex and high-quality matters, develop strong client relationships and take increasing ownership of their practice.

Commercial litigation experience is essential. Prior insolvency experience is preferred but not required. We will support the right candidate who has strong litigation fundamentals and a genuine interest in developing expertise in insolvency and restructuring.

In this role you will work across a diverse range of commercial disputes and insolvency matters in state and federal jurisdictions, including:

- drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions, correspondence and legal advice;

- appearing in courts and tribunals, and attending mediations and settlement conferences;

- briefing and instructing counsel;

- advising insolvency practitioners, creditors, companies and individuals on a broad range of insolvency issues;

- acting in corporate and personal insolvency matters;

- preparing statutory demands, winding up proceedings, bankruptcies and recovery actions; and

- contributing to business development initiatives and the continued growth of the firm.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- at least two years’ post-qualification experience in commercial litigation;

- the ability to manage matters with an appropriate level of autonomy;

- strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills;

- excellent communication and client management skills;

- confidence engaging directly with clients, barristers, insolvency practitioners and other stakeholders;

- a commercial and pragmatic approach to legal problem-solving;





- strong organisational and time management skills;

- the ability to mentor and support junior lawyers; and

- a genuine interest in developing a practice in commercial litigation and insolvency.

Remuneration

A competitive salary package commensurate with experience will be offered.

As a guide, a salary in the range of $100,000 - $120,000 (excluding superannuation) will be offered for candidates meeting the requirements of this role, with flexibility for exceptional applicants.
