HAVE THE CAREER. HELP BUILD WHAT’S NEXT.
Why settle for standing still when you can help move projects forward?
At POA, we're looking for someone who sees what needs to happen next and takes the initiative to make it happen. Someone who enjoys bringing people, plans and priorities together. Someone who understands that successful projects depend on clear communication, attention to detail and following through.
Based in our modern Townsville Head Office, you'll support new builds, installations and maintenance across our outdoor advertising network while enjoying the lifestyle North Queensland is famous for. You'll take on meaningful responsibility, develop your project management skills and help a growing Queensland business turn plans into results.
ORGANISATION IS ONE THING.
INITIATIVE. ACCOUNTABILITY. FOLLOW-THROUGH. THAT'S DIFFERENT.
Do you enjoy turning a plan into progress?
Can you manage competing priorities without letting the details slip?
Do you spot potential problems early and help find solutions?
Are you confident following up with contractors, councils and suppliers?
Do you ask “how can we make this work better”?
Are you the type of person who creates momentum instead of waiting for direction?
At POA, we're looking for an Assistant Project Manager who brings more than organisational skills.
We're looking for someone who brings energy, practical thinking and a desire to constantly raise the standard.
THE OPPORTUNITY
POA is a 40+ year Queensland success story with a start-up mentality.
Today we're Australia's leading family-owned outdoor advertising company, with more than 2,000 billboard opportunities helping businesses connect with their communities and grow.
As our Assistant Project Manager, you'll help coordinate the people, logistics, approvals, budgets and records that keep our projects and asset fleet moving.
You'll support our Commercial, Operations and Projects executive and wider team across new billboard opportunities, construction, installations, repairs and maintenance. Working with internal teams, contractors, councils and property owners, you'll help ensure projects are organised, requirements are met and progress stays visible.
This is a practical, varied role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building relationships and seeing their work deliver results on the ground.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Coordinate projects, contractors and logistics
- Manage contractor quoting and tendering processes for Repairs & Maintenance projects, with support from internal teams.
- Assist with logistics for new builds, installations and maintenance programs,
including accommodation, equipment hire, subcontractors and site access.
- Forecast and monitor Repairs & Maintenance requirements across the asset fleet, maintaining accurate timelines and fault records.
- Coordinate contractor onboarding and setup, including insurance verification and Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) compliance requirements.
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support effective build and maintenance outcomes.
Keep approvals and compliance on track
- Maintain current Road Corridor Permits and track ongoing regulatory compliance requirements.
- Coordinate council and regulatory approvals, including new build applications, Form 15, 16 and 21 certifications, and electricity supply connections.
- Coordinate Dial Before You Dig applications and associated site requirements.
- Monitor planning and building approval timeframes, liaising with councils to arrange extensions and maintain project compliance.
- Assist management with research into council planning policies, infrastructure projects and other commercial and operational initiatives.
Maintain accurate records, budgets and reporting
- Maintain documentation for new and rebuilt sites, including data entry and inventory management system updates.
- Keep asset and inventory records consistent across systems, confirming when signs are scheduled for removal and updating their status.
- Monitor project budgets, expenditure and financial performance through Xero Projects.
- Support internal teams with project budget management and financial oversight.
- Prepare commercial and operational reports as required, including monthly and annual reports, key account summaries and budget information.
Support new site opportunities and property relationships
- Support the Commercial, Operations and Projects executive and wider team with research, preparation and presentation of proposals for new billboard sites.
- Manage relationships with prospective and new property owners for digital and static billboard opportunities, including responding to leads and maintaining customer relationship records.
- Prepare digital and static licence agreements and related correspondence in coordination with the relevant internal teams.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Some experience in project coordination, construction administration, maintenance planning, operations or a similar role.
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Confidence coordinating contractors, suppliers and project logistics.
- An eye for detail and a commitment to accurate records, documentation and follow-up.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with councils, and other stakeholders.
- Confidence working with budgets, expenditure tracking and reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience with, or a willingness to learn, Xero Projects, inventory and customer relationship systems.
- An understanding of approval processes, contractor compliance and workplace safety requirements, or a willingness to develop that knowledge.
- A practical approach to solving problems and the confidence to flag issues early.
- A proactive attitude, a willingness to visit sites and a genuine desire to learn.
Qualifications in project management, construction, business or a related field would be advantageous, as would experience with council approvals, infrastructure projects or asset maintenance.
Most importantly, you'll bring a willingness to take ownership and follow through.
WHY POA?

We're continually investing in innovation, technology and new ways of thinking. You'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, improve how we work and play a practical role in the continued growth of our advertising network.
You'll be part of a team where your contribution matters and where taking initiative is encouraged.
