CONCERN

A top-notch diesel mechanic in Kal-Boulder is earning good money but missing too much life. Symptoms: checking flight times on a Sunday night.

CAUSE

Most diesel jobs worth taking out here come with a roster, a camp or a plane attached.

CORRECTION

Replaced with one local role at $80 an hour, in a clean, air-conditioned workshop, with weekends off and your own bed every night.

PARTS SUPPLIED





- 1 x fleet you'll get to know inside out, instead of 40 machines you'll never see again
- 1 x workshop floor you could eat your lunch off (please use the table)
- 1 x family business that knows your name
- 2 x days off. Every weekend

LABOUR

- In-house servicing of the fleet, in the workshop and out on breakdowns
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on light and heavy vehicles
- Component replacement, refurbishment and some fabrication
- Service reports, repair orders and parts records
- Helping across the workshop and yard when it's busy

PRE-START CHECKS

- Trade certificate (Heavy Diesel Mechanic or equivalent)
- Robust fault-finding across hydraulics and auto electrical
- Comfortable with diagnostic software
- Manual driver's licence (MC and forklift a bonus)
- Pre-employment medical and D&A; test
- Already living in Kalgoorlie-Boulder

TECHNICIAN'S NOTE

It's a 50+ hour week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility considered. At $80 an hour, those hours add up nicely.
