M2 Advisory Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team on a maternity leave contract.

We are a well-established accounting firm based in Armadale, providing accounting, taxation, compliance and business advisory services to a broad range of clients, including individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and self-managed superannuation funds.

This role would suit an accountant with public practice experience who is confident preparing accounts and tax returns, communicating with clients, and working within a supportive team environment.

About the Role The position will include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Business Services

- Attending to client business needs through the provision of accounting, taxation and business advisory services in a timely manner.

- Preparing financial accounts and tax returns for various client structures, including individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.

- Completing workpapers to a high-quality standard.

- Communicating with clients to obtain information, meet deadlines and ensure the efficient turnaround of work.

- Assisting with tax advice to clients, as approved by a manager or director.

- Working collaboratively with the team to achieve the firm’s goal of providing excellent service to clients.

Technical

- Maintaining professional development relevant to the position.

- Attending and participating in internal staff training.

- Continuing to improve skills across taxation, accounting and business services.

- Applying robust technical knowledge to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.

Administration





- Entering timesheets at the end of each working day.

- Working towards a productivity target of at least 85%.

- Complying with office procedures, checklists and templates.

- Managing assigned workflow and priorities in a timely and organised manner.

About You The successful applicant will ideally have:

- Experience working in an Australian public practice accounting firm.

- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for different entity types.

- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- A willingness to listen, learn and take instructions.

- A positive and professional attitude.

- Respectful communication with staff and clients.

- Flexibility and an approachable, open-minded manner.

- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB and HandiSoft will be highly regarded.
