Join ABMARC and Help Shape the Future of Vehicle Safety
ABMARC is Australia's leading automotive testing and engineering organisation, supporting vehicle manufacturers, technology developers, suppliers and regulators through world-class testing, validation and development services.
Based in Victoria's southwest, our team works on the cutting edge of vehicle safety, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous technologies and vehicle performance validation.
We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Test Engineer (ADAS) to join our growing Test & Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with advanced vehicle technologies in a hands-on engineering environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Test Team Lead, you will be responsible for planning, conducting and analysing vehicle validation testing to support a range of test and development programs. You'll work closely with engineers, technicians and stakeholders to ensure testing is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
Essential technical capability
- Deep, current working knowledge of the 2026 Euro NCAP protocols relevant to driver safety assist work, including Safe Driving and Crash Avoidance, associated technical bulletins, test validity requirements and assessment methods; ability to apply relevant ANCAP requirements and identify differences.
- Recent hands-on experience independently preparing, running and analysing NCAP / Euro NCAP pre-test or assessment programs. General ADAS development experience alone is insufficient.
- Ability to assess vehicle readiness, recognise calibration or configuration issues, and work effectively with OEM engineers to establish the correct ready-to-test state.
- Proficiency with ADAS test equipment, instrumentation and analysis systems, including vehicle robots,
moving targets, GNSS / RTK positioning, vehicle data logging and time-synchronised data. Providers must identify the systems each candidate can operate independently.
- Ability to scrutinise protocol wording and software-generated results; diagnose discrepancies; and explain the technical basis for validity, scoring and conclusions.
- Robust fault-finding skills across vehicle systems, test equipment, communications and data processing, with a practical track record of resolving problems.
Professional capability and behaviours
- High attention to detail, disciplined documentation and a strong safety mindset.
- Clear spoken and written English, effective client communication and constructive teamwork across different cultures and levels of technical maturity.
- Flexibility, a can-do attitude and resilience when requirements, equipment performance or weather conditions change; willingness to take ownership through to resolution.
Roster and Working Arrangements
This role operates on a roster basis.
What We're Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related discipline) or equivalent industry experience.
- Data Analysis and IT Engineering qualifications may also be suitable.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive approach to teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Safety-focused mindset.
