About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and motivated Barista to join our café team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience opening a café, be confident managing early-morning shifts independently, and have a strong understanding of daily café operations.

This role is ideal for someone who takes initiative, works well under pressure, and can help maintain smooth café operations. We are also looking for someone with leadership qualities who can guide and support other team members when the manager is unavailable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Morning Opening & Café Operations

- Independently open the café and prepare it for daily operations.
- Complete opening procedures, including setting up the coffee machine, grinder, and equipment.
- Ensure the café is clean, organised, and ready for customers.
- Prepare the coffee station and check stock levels and supplies.
- Ensure all opening tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

2. Barista & Customer Service

- Prepare high-quality coffee and other beverages consistently.
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
- Manage busy morning periods while maintaining quality and speed.
- Operate the POS system and process customer orders and payments as required.

3. Team Support & General Café Duties

- Assist other team members with general café duties during quieter periods.
- Help with restocking, cleaning, dishes, clearing tables, and maintaining the overall presentation of the café.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist wherever needed.

4. Leadership & Responsibility





- Take responsibility for the smooth running of the café during early shifts.
- Demonstrate initiative and sound judgement when working independently.
- Support, guide, and coordinate team members when the manager is absent.
- Communicate operational issues, stock shortages, and customer concerns to management.
- Lead by example by maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, teamwork, and professionalism.

Skills & Experience Required

- Proven experience as a barista, preferably in a busy café environment.
- Previous experience opening a café and completing opening procedures independently.
- Confidence working early-morning shifts and managing responsibilities without direct supervision.
- Strong coffee-making skills and knowledge of coffee equipment.
- Excellent time management, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to take responsibility when required.
- Flexibility to assist with other café duties when business is quieter.

The Ideal Candidate We are seeking someone who is more than just a barista. You will be dependable, proactive, and capable of taking ownership of the opening shift. You should be comfortable working independently, know what needs to be done without constant direction, and be willing to step up and support the team when needed.

Pay: $29.00 – $34.00 per hour
