Commercial Manager - Date Centre Hyperscale

MMD Recruitment is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager for a high-profile, client-side data centre role based in Melbourne CBD.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to join a growing data centre delivery team, working across major capital projects and supporting the commercial success of complex construction packages. The Role:

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial, contractual and financial management of major data centre projects. Working closely with senior project managers, consultants, contractors and client stakeholders, you will provide strategic commercial direction from procurement through to project delivery and close-out.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing commercial strategy, contracts, budgets, variations, claims and project risk.
- Leading contract reviews, negotiations and procurement activities across major construction packages.
- Supporting cost planning, forecasting, reporting and financial governance.
- Providing commercial advice to senior leadership,



project teams and client stakeholders.
- Reviewing contractor performance, payment claims, variations and commercial exposure.
- Supporting tendering, business planning and project profitability initiatives.
- Leading and mentoring commercial and cost-management team members where required.

About you: To be successful, you will bring:

- 12+ years’ experience in commercial management, quantity surveying, contract administration or cost management.
- A strong Quantity Surveying background within major construction, infrastructure, energy, mission-critical or data centre projects.
- Experience working with a Tier 1 contractor, leading consultancy or major project delivery environment.
- Demonstrated capability managing high-value contracts, commercial risk, cost reporting, variations and claims.
- RICS qualification (MRICS/FRICS) or equivalent recognised qualified accreditation.
- Strong understanding of Australian construction contracts, procurement processes and commercial practices.
- Excellent stakeholder-management, negotiation and communication skills.
- A commercially focused, detail-oriented approach with the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced project environment.
