MARS Recruitment is partnering with a leading organisation within the resources sector to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager for an initial 6-month contract, with the opportunity to extend.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established projects team, providing commercial leadership and contract management expertise across major capital projects.

About the Role

Reporting into the project leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing contracting and procurement activities across major projects, ensuring effective commercial management, governance and delivery outcomes.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring solid experience across the full contract lifecycle, from procurement strategy and contract formation through to post-award management, claims, variations and close-out.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead contracting and procurement activities across major capital projects

- Develop and implement project-specific contracting and procurement strategies

- Oversee tendering, evaluations, commercial negotiations and contract awards

- Manage the full contract lifecycle, including variations, claims, disputes and close-out

- Provide commercial advice to project leadership on contractual risks and opportunities

- Oversee contractor and supplier performance, ensuring contractual obligations are met

- Manage commercial governance, compliance,



reporting and contract administration processes

- Work across a range of project delivery models, including EPC, EPCM and construction contracts

- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, commercial improvements and process efficiencies

- Build strong relationships with project managers, engineering teams, contractors and other key stakeholders

- Provide guidance, mentoring and support to contracts and procurement team members

About You To be successful, you will ideally have:

- Extensive experience in a Contracts Manager, Senior Contracts Specialist or Commercial Contracts leadership role

- Strong background within mining, resources, energy, construction or major infrastructure projects

- Demonstrated experience managing high-value project and construction contracts

- Excellent knowledge of pre-award and post-award contract management

- Sound understanding of EPC, EPCM and other major project delivery models

- Previous experience mentoring or leading contracts professionals

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded
