About the role

Join the Operations team at Queen Victoria Market and play a key role in ensuring one of Melbourne's most iconic destinations operates safely, efficiently and delivers exceptional experience for traders, visitors and stakeholders.

We are seeking a proactive and customer focused Operations Officer with experience in operations, events, compliance and has demonstrated experience and abilities in influencing positive changes to meet business goals. You will be a visible presence across the Market, building positive relationships, enforcing Market rules, responding to operational issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that support business objectives.

This is a full-time position and this role will be based on a two-week cycle roster and will include weekend work Saturdays & Sundays (every second weekend).

You will be responsible for:

- Promote awareness of, educate stakeholders on, and enforce Market rules and operational requirements.
- Actively contribute to operational improvements and drive positive change across all areas of Market operations.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure a protected, clean, and welcoming environment for traders, staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to and resolving trader and customer enquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.
- Investigate, record, and accurately report incidents and remedial actions using QVM's CRM system (Salesforce).
- Respond to operational incidents and emergencies, including providing First Aid, acting as a Fire Warden when required, and supporting emergency management procedures alongside the Chief Fire Warden.
- Support the planning, delivery,



and ongoing management of QVM's highly successful Night Market series and other special events.
- Build strong working relationships with traders, contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective day-to-day operations.

What are we looking for?

- Demonstrated experience in operations, compliance, venue management, events, security, customer service, or a similar operational environment. A strong customer service mindset with the confidence to engage, influence, and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
- The ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused when managing challenging situations or resolving conflict.
- Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with culturally diverse communities and an appreciation for inclusive customer engagement.
- Strong administration skills, including experience using the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint).
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
