Mechanical Fitter / Field Service Technician

Put your mechanical trade skills to work in a varied field service role with a supportive, family-owned business.

At Hunter Valley Compressors, you'll service and repair equipment that local businesses depend on every day. You don't need compressed-air experience—we'll provide on-the-job training to help you build that knowledge.

What's in it for you?

- Full-time employment with consistent weekday hours and a monthly RDO.
- A fully stocked company van equipped for your field service work.
- Training in compressed-air systems, building on your existing mechanical skills.
- A supportive, family-owned team where you can ask questions, share knowledge and get help when you need it.
- Room to grow, expand your skills and take on more responsibility.

What you'll be doing

Based out of our Tomago workshop, you'll visit customer sites across Newcastle, the Hunter region and surrounding areas to install, service and repair compressed-air systems and related equipment.

- Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs.
- Installing equipment and helping customers keep their operations running.
- Communicating clearly with customers and the HVC team about the work required and completed.

You'll enjoy a mix of practical work, problem-solving and customer interaction, with independence on site and a team behind you.

What you'll bring

We're looking for a qualified fitter or mechanical tradesperson who takes pride in their work and is keen to learn.

- A relevant trade qualification in fitting and turning or a related mechanical trade.
- A current driver licence and White Card.
- Your own trade tools.
- Practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- Transparent communication skills and a professional approach with customers.
- A reliable approach to work and a commitment to working safely.

New to compressors? That's perfectly ok. Your mechanical trade background gives you a starting point, and we'll teach you the equipment and systems.
