Experienced Disability Support Workers Needed!

Let's play a quick game. Have you ever worked for a provider where: ❌ "Training" was a 12-minute video from 2015

❌ Your manager's only advice was "just see how you go"

❌ The client's care plan was laminated, filed and never seen again

❌ Your co-worker's main skill was achieving a new Candy Crush high score

If you said yes to any of the above, congratulations. You've experienced the industry standard.

We are not the industry standard ?

The Origin Story (It's a Good One…….)

Our Managing Director is the eldest of eight (yes, eight!), and four of her younger siblings live with disability. Naturally, she went looking for the kind of care she'd accept for her own family.

Spoiler: she didn't find it.

So she did what any reasonable, slightly fed-up eldest sibling would do. She built it herself.

That's Enabled Disability Services. Every person we support gets the level of care she'd demand for her own brothers and sisters. And trust us, eldest siblings have very high standards.

Oh, and we won the 2025 ACT Chief Minister's Award for Excellence in Access and Inclusion. We're not saying we're the best…The Chief Minister is!!

So What is the Gig??

We need three experienced legends to work across:

1. Skills in Action – our capacity-building day program in O'Connor, where participants build real-world skills, confidence and friendships (and occasionally destroy you at UNO)
2. 1:1 Support – in homes and out in the community

You'll be supporting participants specifically with Down Syndrome, Seizure Disorders and complex behaviours. What You'll Actually Be Doing:

1. Building independence. Doing things with people, not for them. If you make someone's toast every day for a year, congratulations, you've built a toast dependency. We want them making their own (and maybe yours).
2. Running the day program like a pro. Keeping a group engaged, on task and having a genuinely good time.
3. Getting out into the real world.

Community access that participants actually enjoy. Not sitting in a food court staring at a fake plant for four hours.
4. Keeping people safe. Responding calmly to seizures, following Behaviour Support Plans and de-escalating like the seasoned professional you are.
5. Writing shift notes humans can read. "Good shift. Client fine." is not a shift note. It's a haiku, and a bad one.

You're Our Kind of Person If... ✅ You've got real disability support experience and Complex Behaviours and Seizures don't send you running for the car

✅ You walk in with a plan. You don't wait to be told what to do, you spot opportunities and run with them

✅ Your phone lives in your pocket. Shocking concept, we know. If your idea of support is scrolling TikTok while someone watches Bluey for the ninth time, please keep scrolling. Right past this ad.

✅ You're reliable. "Running 5 minutes late" means 5 minutes, not 45 and a vague emoji

✅ You've got high standards. You'd never accept "near enough" for someone you love, so you won't accept it for anyone you support The Boring (But Key) Bit:

- Demonstrated disability support experience
- Current First Aid and CPR
- 18+ with a driver's licence and a reliable car (bonus points if it's clean inside!)
- Australian work rights
- WWVP card and National Police Check (or willing to get them before you start)

What's In It For You??

1. An award-winning team where trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practice is how we actually work, not a buzzword we put on Instagram
2. Competitive pay and genuine flexibility. Casual shifts that respect the fact you have a life
3. Zero micromanagement. We train you, back you and then trust you to do your job like the capable adult you are. Wild, right?

Think You've Got What It Takes? We demand the best because our clients deserve nothing less! If you've got the experience, the initiative and the heart (and you can survive a 10-minute conversation without checking your phone), we want to hear from you.

Hit apply today and come change the sector with us!
